As we all know there are thousands of skin cleansers out there that promise to leave your skin glowing and blemish free. We’re not denying that they may do this, however what we’re more concerned about is the harmful effects that may result from using them. As profit is the objective, often thinking about you (the consumer) takes the back seat and we’d like to help you change that. This post will to point you in the direction that will help you put your skin back on the pedestal it deserves.
What is Bentonite Clay & what does it do?
According to Mountain Rose:
“Bentonite, also referred to as Montmorillonite, is one of the most effective and powerful healing clays. Bentonite can be used externally as a clay poultice, mud pack or in the bath and, in skin care recipes. A good quality Bentonite should be a grey/cream colour and anything bordering “pure white” is suspect. It has a very fine, velveteen feel and is odourless and non-staining.”
This clay is unique because when hydrated is produces an electrical charge that allows it to absorb toxins, heavy metals and impurities.
What can it help you with?
- Fungal Infections
- Facial Swelling (Edema)
- Repairing damaged tissue
- Cleans and opens clogged facial pores
- Tightens the skin and eliminates fine lines
Ways to use Bentonite Clay
Our two favourite ways to use this super clay are in a Detox Bath and a Face Mask.
Detox Bath – Instead of adding that cap full of dettol opt for a ¼ cup of Bentonite for a smooth, glowing feel!
Face Mask – Starting the day right can mean many things to different people, when it comes to skin Bentonite comes first. Mix it water to make a paste. Leave on for 10-15mins and rinse off with warm water.
If you didn’t know about Bentonite before we hope that we have given you enough to add it to you cabinet of goodies! Whether it’s Acne, Eczema or repairing damaged tissue this clay will replace your current skin cleanser if given the chance.
