In a time where it seems like musicians, entertainers and businessmen and women alike are milking Africa for it's bountiful resources, one musician steps away from the rest to make a difference. Akon (who has partnered with Give1Project and ADS Global Corporation SA) has launched the "Akon Lighting Africa" tour. His aim is simple; to bring electricity to 1 million households in Africa by the end of 2014. He aims to start small by first tackling two to three villages by providing solar panels that will allow people to have light and electricity. Not only will this benefit the over economy of the chosen villages but this means a whole new world of opportunities for young African children. To kick off his tour, Akon will start by visiting Senegal, Mali, Guinea Conakry, Gambia, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Congo Brazzaville and Ivory Coast to discuss with global leaders about his project. We at ISIS are happy to see another artist standing out to make a difference and we wish him all the best!
